How to deal with anxiety caused by our modern world

Overcoming the doom & gloom

Pesticides in our food, toxins in the water, corrupt corporations stealing your money—these are all topics I consistently speak about.

Many people have asked me how to deal with anxiety that comes from learning about these things.

In this email, I’ll tell you how.

Avoid Learned Helplessness

Anxiety is the outcome of frustration when you believe you’ve lost control. It can also be called learned helplessness.

Martin Seligman, an American psychologist, developed the Theory of Learned Helplessness based on experiments with dogs.

In the experiments, the dogs would be shocked with an electric charge. After a number of rounds, the dogs learned to accept their fate. They stopped trying to escape, even when it would be easy to do so.

This state of giving up is exactly where the greedy people making you sick want you to be.

Remember, these circumstances are not reality. Disease is not natural, it is caused. As humans, we are naturally supposed to be healthy and happy. So instead of accepting this as your fate, understand that this is a battle. The wrong people are making decisions, and we know what is right.

What You Can do

The most powerful thing you can do is learn so that you can speak.

Educate yourself on what’s happening in our world. Listen to podcasts, study what interests you, and educate others.

When you see a bag of Cheetos at a friend/family member’s house, don’t eat it thinking, “it’s okay for today.” Instead, teach them and bring a better alternative.

This is exactly what I do. I am not a scientist, doctor, or clinician. I am someone who is sick of what I’m seeing, so I learn and speak about it.

You can do the same. Do not let learned helplessness control you. Educate yourself, share knowledge with others, and stand against those who seek to profit from your ill health.

You have more power than you realize and together we can win this battle.
