How I got my sons to do their homework
with functional genomics
My sons used to struggle with their homework.
They’d play video games, watch YouTube, and scroll their phones…
But when it came to studying and completing assignments for school, they wouldn’t cooperate.
I thought they lacked discipline for the longest time… but once I looked at their DNA, everything changed.
My older son, according to his genetics, has the maximum number of dopamine receptors in his brain. It also takes a long time to remove these chemicals from his brain.
This means that he experiences pleasure easily and for a long time.
What’s the problem?
He’s always satisfied. He’d open up his textbook, work for five minutes, and stop working. That’s all it took for him to experience reward.
My younger son, who was 5 at the time, has a completely different problem.
He metabolizes starches very poorly. The specific gene that tells him to turn starches into glucose (the body’s fuel source) doesn’t function properly.
So after a big dinner of starchy vegetables and bread, although organic, would give him severe brain fog.
The solution?
For my older son, I made doing homework even more rewarding by telling him he could do things he enjoyed after he finished.
For my younger son, I simply removed starches from his dinner.
After these two small changes, doing homework was no longer a problem.
No more crying, and no more late nights convincing them to complete their assignments.
Understanding their DNA was like having an instruction manual. I could easily figure out what was going wrong and quickly find a solution.
This is functional genomics.
Genetics is the science of genes and how traits are passed down from parents to their children.
Functional genomics deals with genes, but also how we can use our environment to achieve the best outcomes (even if you have “bad” genes).
Everybody thinks that genes are your destiny. If you have bad genes, you’re destined for health problems, behavioral issues, and even illness down the road.
And after conducting the world’s largest study in functional genomics with over 7,000 participants, I can say confidently that this is not true.
Genes load the gun, environment pulls the trigger.
If you’d like to dive deep into this subject with me, I’m hosting a free masterclass tonight at 7pm EST.
I’m going to share everything I’ve learned about this subject.
There’s even a special gift for everyone that joins live. And if you can’t make it, sign up and I’ll send you the recording.
