Harms of Tap Water

And what you can do instead.

You may or may not have seen the clip where Alex Jones says tap water is “turning the friggin’ frogs gay.”

This may seem outlandish but there’s truth to that statement.

What he’s talking about is atrazine—the most commonly detected pesticide in tap water.

Atrazine does in fact change male frogs’ sexual preferences and has been shown to convert some of them into females.

In a study conducted by Tyrone Haynes, they raised 40 genetically male frogs in a solution containing 2.5 parts per billion (ppb) of atrazine (less than what the legal limit allows).

This is less than the EPA legal limit for tap water which is 3 ppb.

The results of this study were shocking—they found that 10% of the male frogs developed into females and started producing eggs.

Other research has shown that atrazine makes male frogs have:

  • Lower testosterone levels

  • Produce less sperm

  • Change their mating preferences by choosing males over females

There’s also plenty of data on the harmful effects of atrazine on humans.

The University of Illinois reviewed data for 130,000+ births and reported there was a significant association between preterm births and atrazine in drinking water.

The average concentration of atrazine in this review was one-seventh of the EPA legal limit.

A study led by Cécile Chevrier reported an increase in small head circumference in French babies whose mothers drank atrazine-contaminated tap water during pregnancy.

In this study, atrazine levels were also below the EPA legal limit.

It’s clear that the amount of atrazine in tap water is enough to cause serious harm.

Especially right now—EPA data shows late spring and early summer spikes of atrazine in water are commonly 3-7x the legal limit.

So please, stop drinking tap water and buy a high-quality filter.

I personally use AquaTru—their reverse osmosis filters have been shown to remove more than 97% of atrazine in tap water.

Not only that, but their filters also remove more than 98.8% of PFOAs (forever chemical), arsenic, and lead.

If you’ve been looking for a high-quality water filter that removes metals, chemicals, estrogens, and nasty pesticides like atrazine, AquaTru is a great option.

They’re having a summer sale right now and offering up to $150 off their products. Check them out here:
