How To Supplement With Vitamin D

its importance, how your body uses it, and more...

2,000 of our 22,000 genes require vitamin D to function.

Source

10% of our human genome relies on this essential nutrient.

Yet, one billion people globally suffer from a vitamin D deficiency.

This is wreaking havoc on our health.

It’s leading to increased rates of cancer, depression, cardiovascular diseases, osteoporosis, autoimmune diseases, dementia, diabetes and even hair loss.

This needs your attention.

Vitamin D’s effects are extremely vast. This nutrient…

  • regulates hormones

  • increases muscle mass

  • facilitates calcium absorption

  • suppresses inflammation

  • improves insulin sensitivity

  • prevents cancer

  • supports the immune system

  • lowers the risk of depression

  • supports heart health

  • improves metabolic health.

And much more.

But don’t order it just yet.

Supplementing with 10,000 IU of vitamin D3 once per day will likely do nothing for your body. This comes down to your genetics.

Let me explain…

Vitamin D is metabolized in 3 steps:

First, the CYP2R1 gene converts vitamin D2 into D3.

With the GG and AG variants of this gene, your body has trouble converting vitamin D2 (from the sun, plant sources, and fortified foods) into it’s active form. Consider taking a vitamin D3 supplement.

Next, the VDBP/GC gene transports vitamin D into the bloodstream and throughout your entire body.

With the suboptimal version of this gene, your body has trouble transporting vitamin D effectively. You can’t supplement with vitamin D all at once. Take it in the morning and afternoon.

Finally, the VDR gene binds vitamin D to its receptor, affecting how well your body can use it.

With the TT and CT gene variants, your body uses vitamin D less efficiently. Consider taking higher doses of vitamin D.
