The Hidden Danger in Your Beef Tallow

Why Plastic Packaging Is Ruining Your Beef Tallow

I love beef tallow.

When it comes to fats, beef tallow is as good as it gets…

It’s one of the best fats you can use—it’s incredibly healthy and the best for cooking.

It’s stable at high heat, supports gut health, helps with hormone production, and even has anti-inflammatory properties.

I’ve recommended it for years, and I’ll continue to do so.

That said, there’s some bad news I need to share…

Recent tests have found that beef tallow is contaminated with toxic Phthalates.

Yes, plastic toxins are showing up in tallow.

The issue stems from the fact that many of the beef tallow products tested were stored in plastic containers, which leach harmful chemicals into the fat.

Other fats like olive oil, avocado oil, and ghee actually tested higher for Phthalates than beef tallow.

Even though tallow is considered a better fat option, those plastic containers are causing contamination that you need to avoid.

The Number 1 Rule

Never buy fats in plastic containers.

It’s simple:

Plastic leaches chemicals, especially Phthalates, which are endocrine disruptors.

These chemicals disrupt your hormones.

It’s a no-brainer…

If you're going to buy fats, make sure they’re in glass containers—period.

Here’s a breakdown of the study findings:

  • The worst option

Epic brand tallow. Epic uses plastic containers for all of their fats, and their products consistently tested high for Phthalates.

  • The best option

PaleoValley. Their beef tallow comes in glass containers, which means no plastic contamination. It’s the best you can find if you want high-quality, clean tallow.

When you buy these fats, always check the packaging.

If it’s in plastic, just walk away.

I know it’s tempting to grab that big bottle of olive oil at Costco, but just because it’s a “good oil” doesn’t mean it’s free from plastic toxins.

That plastic will still leach chemicals into the oil, no matter how high quality it is.

So, what’s the takeaway here?

Keep using tallow—don’t stop just because of this study…

Just make sure you’re buying it in glass, like PaleoValley, to avoid those toxic plastic chemicals.

The fat is great, but the packaging matters.

Buy in glass, avoid the plastic, and you’re good to go.

Your body will thank you.

Until next time,
