Why Your Doctor Knows Nothing

How two men changed the way doctors think, and how that shaped modern medicine today

In yesterday’s email, I told you how cigarette companies took over the American food supply.

But that's only half the story.

The other half explains why your doctor can't help you fix the damage.

All because of two men…

John D. Rockerfeller and Abraham Flexner.

Abraham Flexner

The Flexner Report

In 1910, a document was published that would reshape American medicine for the next century.

It was called the Flexner Report.

And it was funded by John D. Rockefeller.

At the time, Rockefeller was the richest man in America.

His fortune came from oil.

But he had a problem—the government was threatening to break up his monopoly.

So he diversified into pharmaceuticals.

Many early drugs were derived from petroleum byproducts.

Rockefeller saw an opportunity to create a new industry.

But first, he needed to reshape how doctors were trained.

The Flexner Report accomplished exactly that.

It established new standards for medical education.

Schools that didn't comply lost funding and accreditation.

Within a few years, more than half of all U.S. medical schools were shut down.

What got eliminated?

  • Nutrition

  • Herbal medicine

  • Homeopathy

  • Osteopathy

  • Chiropractic care

In other words… anything that couldn’t be patented and sold.

What remained?

A system built around naming diseases after people already got sick—then treating symptoms with drugs or surgery.

The New Paradigm

The Flexner Report didn't just change what doctors learned.

It changed how they think.

Medicine became reductionist.

Conditions were siloed.

Symptoms were isolated and treated individually.

Most notably—root causes were ignored.

This approach works brilliantly for acute problems.

But it fails for chronic disease.

And want to know something crazy?

Today, the average medical student receives roughly 7 hours of nutrition education across four years of training.

Seven hours.

Meanwhile, 6 in 10 American adults have a chronic disease.

Most of these conditions are driven by diet and lifestyle.

Doctors aren't stupid—they're just not trained.

Which is ironic…

The people we perceive as “health experts” (doctors) were never actually trained to be health experts the first place.

They’re just really good at selling pharmaceuticals.

This is why chronic disease is "managed" instead of reversed.

You go to the doctor with high blood sugar. You get metformin.

You go with high blood pressure. You get a beta blocker.

You go with joint pain. You get an anti-inflammatory.

Nobody asks what's causing the inflammation.

Nobody addresses the metabolic dysfunction driving your blood sugar.

Nobody connects the dots.

Because that's not what they were trained to do.

Your Biology Didn't Change

Rockefeller reshaped medical education to serve his pharmaceutical interests.

But biology didn't change just because the business model did.

Your body still requires nutrients and heals when you remove what’s harming it.

The problem is that the entire medical infrastructure—the training, the guidelines, the incentive structures—was built to ignore this.

Your doctor isn't the enemy.

They're a product of a system designed over 100 years ago by an oil tycoon who wanted to sell drugs.

Tomorrow, I'll show you who's still controlling that system today…

And why the corruption runs deeper than you think.

Stay tuned.
