Deli Meat Outbreak

And Why You Should Stop Eating Processed Meats

2 people died and 28 people got sick from eating deli meat.

This occurred due to a Listeria outbreak which was traced back to deli meats sliced at grocery store counters.

Most of these people reported eating deli-sliced ham, turkey, and liverwurst.

Listeria is a foodborne bacteria that can cause fever, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions.

This is one of the many reasons why you shouldn’t be eating deli meat.

Let’s discuss some more…

Firstly, deli meats are highly-processed foods.

Take a look at this Boar’s Head ingredient list:

It contains fructose, seed oils, and loads of preservatives.

One particularly bad preservative most processed mets contain is is sodium nitrate.

This makes deli meats pink and prevents bacterial overgrowths. But when it’s exposed to heat, nitrates become nitrosamines—a cancer-causing compound.

Another common preservative is butylated hydroxyanisole—an endocrine disruptor and carcinogen used in many deli meats.

Second, deli meats are made from unhealthy animals.

They’re fed corn, soy, and literal garbage.

Chicken and pork are monogastric animals. They only have one stomach, so they lack the ability to eliminate toxins from their body. They store PUFAs and other dangerous compounds in their fat because of their poor quality diet.

What are you making with deli meats?

Sandwiches, wraps, paninis, quesadillas and more.

All these foods are tasty, but not the best for you. You’re getting conventional cheese, processed grains, seed oils, and other hazardous ingredients.

On top of this, these foods lack nutrients.

You need to stay away from processed meats.

There are healthier and better things to eat.
