Hair Loss Remedy
Yesterday’s email focused on the basics of hair loss and three simple strategies you can use to fight it.
Today, I’m going to cover two strategies that specifically fight androgenic alopecia (hair loss caused by hormones), including the daily protocol I mentioned yesterday.
4. DHT Blockers
Ever wonder why bodybuilders are bald?
The steroids they take increase DHT levels in their body. DHT is dihydrotestosterone, a potent male sex hormone. While it’s essential for hormonal health, it essentially kills hair follicles and can cause androgenic alopecia.
Taking an oral DHT blocker, like finasteride or minoxidil pills, is a really bad idea.
This will mess with your hormones and can decrease libido and cause depression.
On the bright side, nature has potent natural DHT blockers that you can apply to your scalp to fight hair loss without the side effects:
Black Seed Oil: Black seed oil is a powerful anti-inflammatory that has been used for centuries to promote scalp health and hair growth. It helps to reduce DHT levels when massaged into the scalp. Read my newsletter about it here.
Rosemary Oil: This essential oil is renowned for its ability to improve circulation to the scalp. Increased blood flow ensures that hair follicles receive the nutrients they need. Rosemary oil not only helps to block DHT but also strengthens hair roots.
Pumpkin Seed Oil: Rich in zinc and phytosterols, pumpkin seed oil has been shown to inhibit DHT production effectively. Regular application of pumpkin seed oil can help maintain healthy hair growth and prevent hair follicles dying.
Black seed oil is like magic. When used in combination with rosemary and pumpkin seed oil, you’ll not only block DHT but give your hair follicles they nutrients they need to thrive.
5. Daily Hair Loss Protocol
Now that you know about natural DHT blockers, let’s put it all together in a simple, daily hair loss protocol you can follow.
Evening Hair Loss Protocol
1. Prepare your oil blend
Mix equal parts of black seed oil, rosemary oil, and pumpkin seed oil in a small bowl. You should prepare this in advance and store it in a dropper bottle for convenience.
2. Scalp massage
Apply this oil blend to your scalp. Scalp massages have been proven to boost hair thickness, so spend some time massaging the oils into your scalp. This will ensure the oils penetrate your skin, and also stimulate blood flow to your hair follicles.
3. Inversion method
Lie down on your bed with your head hanging off the edge for 5 minutes. This will increase blood flow to your scalp even further, giving your hair follicles an extra boost.
4. Sleep
Sleep with the oils in your hair. Cover your pillow with a towel or use a satin pillowcase to protect your bedding. The oils will work overnight to nourish your scalp and block DHT.
5. Morning
In the morning, wash your hair with a clean shampoo, or olive oil/tallow based soap like I mentioned in yesterday’s email. If you choose to condition your hair, choose one that is free of bad ingredients as well.
If you want to try something new, eggs make great shampoo. Eggs contain keratin, vitamins such as A, D, E, B12, Biotin (the hair growth vitamin), and many minerals that support healthy, strong hair. Yolks contains lecithin, which is an emulsifier that rinses out dirt and oils from your hair.
It’s a cheap and effective way to wash your hair—I highly recommend you try it.
With this protocol, a mineral-rich diet, lots of sun, and clean shampoo, you’ll create an environment where your hair can thrive.
This will reduce the impact of androgenic alopecia and promote overall scalp health.
