Not All Additives are Bad

Understanding the nuance will make your life easier

Usually, when I see natural flavors or citric acid on the back of packaged food… I toss it in the trash.

Most of these ingredients are filled with chemicals and it’s better to avoid them.

That being said, there’s nuance when it comes to these ingredients.

The ingredient itself isn’t the problem—it’s the chemicals used to process them.

For example, most natural flavors need 100+ different chemicals to be converted into what they use in food.

However—some others (like mint or citrus zest) are just distilled or pressed, without significant alterations or chemicals.

As a general rule of thumb, avoid these ingredients—most of these companies want to preserve their margins and use the cheapest ingredients they can find.

But if you’re buying from a company that cares about their ingredients…

Chances are they’re getting them from a clean source.

I learned this when I was formulating Defend Blend, my all-in-one supplement.

I designed this supplement for myself and wanted to keep any chemicals far away from it.

But at the same time, I wanted something that tasted good… and when making a supplement the only way to do this is with natural flavors and citric acid.

So, I spoke with my manufacturer and learned that you can actually see every chemical that goes into processing these ingredients.

And I discovered that some are clean, some are not.

We then got to work and spent four months in my lab vetting ingredients from various sources to put in my supplement.

It took a long time but was worth it.

Now I have an all-in-one supplement I can confidently take and give to others—without worrying about extra chemicals.

As I’ve said, supplements aren’t 100% the right answer—focus on detoxing your environment, connecting with the Earth, and eating nutritious food first.

Once you have that covered, giving your body an extra hand with Defend Blend is not a bad idea.

It contains dozens of high-potency plant extracts, superfoods, and antioxidants to make up for the lack of nutrients in our food supply and all the toxins in our environment.
